Wood Smugggling: Chakradharpur (West Singhbhum), Anil Tiwari-Western Singhbhum district in Podahat forest area of Bandgaon police station in the district, Songra and Kera Forest Department, while taking action, seized illegal wood-laden trucks from Chirubeda. Seeing the forest personnel, the wood mafia including the driver escaped from the spot. The price of seized wood is said to be five lakh rupees.
Big action on wood smugglers
Lalan Oraon, Songra-Keera Forest Officer of Podahat forest area, received information at 11 am on Thursday night that wood is being smuggled in Bandgaon police station area of Podahat forest area. Ranger formed a team on Thursday night and sent the team under the leadership of Vanpal Kundan Prasad. On Friday, at around 4 am, the forest department team saw a 12 -wheeler truck (JH01 B03752) in Boto Beat in Bandgaon block when a truck was parked with a year Bota. Seeing the team of forest department, the driver of the truck escaped by taking advantage of the darkness.
Five lakh wood recovered
The forest department team seized the truck -laden truck -laden truck. The wood has been seized and brought to the Chakradharpur office. Investigation revealed that 70 pieces of wooden bota were loaded in the truck. Its price is around 5 lakh rupees. The forest department has registered a case against unknown wood mafia and driver and has started further action. The team included Ashwini Pradhan, Shyamlal Bodra, Raisingh Bodra, Soma Sundi etc. including Vanpal Kundan Prasad.
Truck owner is being traced from number
Songra Ranger Lalan Oraon told that the truck owner is being traced from the number of the truck that has been seized. A case will be registered against the truck owner and the driver. The price of wood is around five lakh rupees. On 4 April 2025, the Forest Department also caught the truck while acting on illegal wood information from Bandgaon police station area. During that time too, the driver and the driver of the truck escaped. About 50 wooden botts were recovered in the truck.
