A newly married woman in Begusarai, Bihar, has died, with suspicion surrounding the circumstances. The woman had a love marriage just four months before her death. According to the husband, his wife died by suicide after consuming poison because she was not allowed to go to her parents’ home. Police have sent the body for a post-mortem. The deceased’s family alleges she was murdered because they didn’t give a motorcycle as dowry.
The couple, Rakhi Kumari and Ravish Kumar, married after eloping in January. Following the marriage, Rakhi’s family pressured her to return. Ravish said that Rakhi’s family came to his village to take her away. After they left, Ravish found Rakhi in a bad state and took her to the hospital, where she passed away. The doctor said she ingested poison.
However, the woman’s mother claims the in-laws demanded a motorcycle as dowry and killed her daughter. Police are investigating and a fight broke out between the two families at the hospital.
