Love, as they say, knows no bounds, and a couple from Bhagalpur, Bihar, is a testament to this enduring truth. Their story, now captured in a viral video, details their journey. After a year-long romance, they sought to marry, but familial disapproval prompted them to take drastic action. Running away from home, they sought refuge in a different village, where the community rallied around them, culminating in a wedding orchestrated by the villagers.

When the villagers first encountered the couple, they were asked about their situation. The couple confirmed their love and declared they would end their lives if they were denied marriage. Witnessing their desperation, the villagers selflessly arranged a wedding ceremony within a local temple. Following the ceremony, the bride created a video, emphasizing that her decision was voluntary and not coerced. She added that her family, specifically her uncle, would be held accountable should anything happen to her, her husband, or her in-laws.

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Sanhaula police station. Shivam, a resident of Lodipur Khurd, and his girlfriend, who hails from Chhoti Sardho village in the Sabour police station area, had been in a relationship for a year. Their families’ opposition to the relationship resulted in the couple’s elopement. They were later found near a hospital in Sanhaula, where they shared their story with the local villagers, stating they were in love and had run away, and that both were of age.

The villagers then arranged for a priest to conduct a Hindu wedding at the Baba Bholenath temple, with the villagers themselves taking on the roles of both families, making the wedding preparations and arranging blessings from the deities. The bride’s statement has since gained widespread attention on social media.
