On Sunday, the Mahagathbandhan held a meeting to determine the seat allocation for the Bihar Assembly elections. This meeting, chaired at Tejashwi Yadav’s residence, focused on finalizing the distribution of seats among the alliance partners. Post-meeting, leaders stated that the seat-sharing agreement has been finalized, with a press conference scheduled in two days to provide complete details.

Mukesh Sahani, the president of the Vikassheel Insaan Party, spoke to the press after the meeting, confirming that all matters have been decided. He stated that a press conference would be held in two days, requesting that specific information be withheld until then.

The Election Commission’s expected announcement of the election date, following the completion of voter list updates and consultations with political parties, has intensified the urgency surrounding seat allocation discussions.

The meeting at Tejashwi Yadav’s residence focused on the finalization of the seat-sharing arrangements. Although specific seat allocations per party were not revealed, sources suggest that a decision was made.

Before the meeting, Rajesh Kumar, the state Congress president, and Krishna Allavaru, the AICC in-charge for the state, mentioned that ‘seat sharing’ and ‘potential candidates’ were the main topics.

During the 2020 Assembly elections, the RJD contested 144 seats and secured 75 wins. The Congress had a lower success rate, winning only 19 of the 70 seats. The Left parties showed strong results, with CPI-ML winning 12 of 19, CPM winning 2 of 4, and CPI winning 2 of 6 seats. Several additional parties, including Mukesh Sahani’s Vikassheel Insaan Party, JMM, and Pashupati Paras’s faction of LJP, have joined the alliance, each with its own demands.
