Delhi’s law enforcers struck gold in Punjabi Bagh, apprehending 18-year-old maid Lakshmi for a shocking Rs 5.63 lakh cash heist from a local residence. Over Rs 2.66 lakh was retrieved from her, as cops intensify efforts for the balance.
The theft was reported via PCR on January 15. Police rushed to the spot, took the victim’s account, and formalized the case with an FIR on January 16, setting the investigation wheels in motion.
Alert to frequent break-ins, a crack team led by SHO Inspector Sanjay Dahiya—with HC Mukesh on board—was constituted. Oversight came from ACP Punjabi Bagh Shivam and DCP West District Sharad Bhaskar Darade.
By analyzing 25+ CCTV footages and ground-level intelligence, the team zeroed in on Lakshmi, the household aide. Her arrest followed a trace, confession, and recovery of Rs 2,66,600, now under seizure.
A first-time offender, Lakshmi’s motive remains under scrutiny, with probes checking for partners in crime. This incident spotlights the risks of trusting domestic workers and praises the police’s tech-savvy tactics.
As court proceedings advance, the recovery boosts victim confidence and reinforces public safety measures in Delhi’s bustling neighborhoods.
