Rumors regarding Zakir Naik, a wanted Indian religious figure, and his alleged AIDS diagnosis have recently spread on social media. Naik, currently in Malaysia, has addressed these claims through his legal representation. His lawyer has stated that the reports are false and designed to discredit Naik. The lawyer’s statement, as reported by Sinar Daily, includes a complete denial of the AIDS allegations. The legal representative further stated that claims that Naik is seeking treatment for AIDS at a private hospital in Klang Valley are untrue. Naik’s legal team has accused those spreading the rumors of attempting to damage his reputation. The team is identifying the source of the false information and plans to take legal action against those responsible within Malaysia. The initial claims originated on September 8th from a social media post by Fatima Khan, which sparked further discussion about Naik. Naik has remained out of the public eye for nearly a year, with his last public comment in November 2024 where he addressed issues relating to India and Hinduism. Naik left India in 2016 and is now a Malaysian citizen. He is wanted in India on terrorism and money laundering charges. In a past interview, Naik revealed his fear of returning to India as the reason for his residence in Malaysia.
