A Delhi court has sided with a man who accused a woman of emotional and sexual harassment, issuing a no-contact order to protect the complainant. The court, situated in Rohini, found merit in the man’s claims and restricted Nancy from approaching or contacting him, reinforcing that harassment transcends gender.

The legal battle, Mukesh Taneja vs. Nancy Verma & Anr., presented a scenario where Mukesh Taneja claimed to have faced unwanted romantic attention and emotional manipulation from Nancy, who he met at a spiritual ashram. Despite Taneja’s consistent rejection of her advances, the accused allegedly persisted in her attempts to establish contact. The court examined evidence such as chats and CCTV footage. The court ordered Nancy and her husband to stay 300 meters away from the man’s residence in Vijay Nagar and prohibited any direct or indirect communication. The case is considered noteworthy for challenging the usual gender dynamics in harassment cases. Advocate Divya Tripathi of Tripaksha Litigation represented the complainant in the proceedings.
