Maruti Suzuki, the largest auto manufacturer in India, is setting an ambitious export goal of over 400,000 vehicles for the fiscal year 2025-26 (FY26). The company has already exported a substantial number of vehicles, exceeding 200,000 units, from April to September 2025. This information was disclosed by a senior executive at the company.

In September 2025, Maruti Suzuki India Limited saw its exports increase to 42,204 vehicles, representing a 52% increase compared to the 27,728 units exported in September of the previous year. According to Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer (Corporate Affairs) at Maruti Suzuki India, approximately 110,000 vehicles were exported in the first quarter (Q1), and a total of over 207,000 units were shipped during the first six months (April-September). This places Maruti Suzuki on a promising trajectory to meet its export target of 400,000 units.

Bharti also highlighted that Maruti Suzuki’s export volume is more than double that of the second-largest exporter in the country. He pointed out the competitive nature of the Indian automotive market, where around 18 companies are vying for market share. Despite the competition, Maruti Suzuki’s export performance significantly outpaces its peers. He drew attention to the company’s strong presence in both the domestic and international markets. He remarked that the company now exports over 100,000 vehicles in a single quarter, in contrast to exporting approximately 100,000 units annually just four years ago. In FY21, the company exported 96,139 units.

Additionally, the company exported 6,068 units of its electric eVITARA in August and September 2025. Bharti emphasized that this underscores the success of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, showcasing that Indian-made cars are making their mark globally. He also mentioned that recent Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) have helped in increasing exports.

The Fronx, Jimny, Swift, Baleno, and Dzire models were the most exported during the first half of FY26. South Africa, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Chile, and Colombia are the primary international markets for Maruti Suzuki.
