Maruti Suzuki has launched the Victoris SUV, with its official unveiling and pricing details to follow in the coming weeks. This SUV is designed to compete directly with popular models such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in the Indian market. The Victoris has immediately earned a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP, highlighting its strong safety profile. The crash tests covered several variants, including the ZXI+ Strong Hybrid eCVT, ZXI+(O) Strong Hybrid eCVT, and ZXI+(O) 6AT. The high safety rating underscores the safety-focused design of the SUV, particularly with the inclusion of ADAS.
The Victoris is built on Suzuki’s new Global C-platform, featuring various advanced technologies. Sales will be conducted through Maruti Suzuki Arena outlets, targeting a broad consumer base. The company aims to bolster its presence in the Indian passenger vehicle market and capitalize on the rising demand for utility vehicles. ADAS and other advanced safety features are integrated into the SUV.
The Victoris is equipped with Safety Assist technology as standard across all its variants. Key safety features include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), pedestrian protection, side head protection airbags, and seatbelt reminders. Advanced driver assistance systems are also available.
The Victoris showcased excellent performance in adult safety, scoring 31.66 out of 32. It achieved 15.66 out of 16 in the frontal offset test and a perfect score of 16 out of 16 in the side impact test. The vehicle also demonstrated a strong performance in the side pole impact test. Standard safety features such as front airbags and side curtain airbags contributed to these results.
In child safety, the Victoris scored 43 out of 49 points. It received top marks in the dynamic assessment, showcasing the safety of child dummies during crash tests. The Child Restraint System (CRS) installation category also saw high scores, reflecting the system’s compatibility with ISOFIX and i-Size child seats. While there is room for improvement in certain areas, the overall child safety performance was commendable.
