Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab, has underscored her government’s dedication to religious tolerance and mutual respect. This commitment was highlighted during the International Day for Victims of Violence Based on Religion or Belief, where she expressed solidarity with those suffering from religious discrimination.

Nawaz spoke of her support for individuals facing injustices due to religious prejudice, acknowledging Islamophobia as a harsh reality worldwide. She also condemned attacks on mosques, limitations on hijab-wearing women, and the linking of Muslims with terrorism.

She also addressed the situations in Palestine and Kashmir, noting the ongoing suffering and the need for the global community to respond. She mentioned the blood-soaked land of Palestine and the persistent pain in the valleys of Kashmir.

Nawaz affirmed her government’s unwavering support for those facing religious persecution and reiterated that Islam advocates for love, peace, and tolerance. She emphasized her government’s dedication to promoting religious harmony and mutual respect.

Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, made history by becoming the first woman to hold the office of Chief Minister of Punjab on February 26, 2024.
