Masood Calls for Calm and Respect Following ‘I Love Muhammad’ Protests

The controversy surrounding the ‘I Love Muhammad’ campaign and the resulting police actions has ignited political tensions in Uttar Pradesh. Congress MP Imran Masood addressed the situation, asserting that mosques are meant for prayer and should not be associated with street violence. Masood, speaking to reporters in Saharanpur, appealed to Muslims to express their affection for Muhammad through adherence to his teachings, rather than engaging in disruptive behavior. The ‘I Love Muhammad’ campaign started in Kanpur following police action over banners. The police action led to widespread protests, numerous arrests, and more complaints. Masood underscored that Muhammad advocated for humanity, not violence. He also commented on the state of justice during the festival of Dussehra, alleging that the eyes of the goddess of justice have been covered, suggesting that those attempting to speak out are being silenced.
