Argentina celebrated a 3-0 victory over Venezuela in a World Cup qualifying match at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires. The victory was poignant as it marked the final international appearance for Lionel Messi in his home country. Messi, visibly moved, scored two goals in his farewell match. The match began with Messi, holding his children’s hands, visibly emotional. He opened the scoring in the first half with a stunning goal. Later, a pass from Almada set up Messi for his second goal. The stadium, and Messi himself, were overcome with emotion at the end of the game.
