Microsoft is incorporating Copilot Mode in its Edge browser, utilizing artificial intelligence to enhance the browsing experience. The feature is designed to make browsing easier, faster, and more intelligent. It transforms search and browsing tasks into topic-based queries.

Copilot Mode collates information from all open tabs, presenting users with comparison options, eliminating the need to switch between tabs. The browser also incorporates voice command functionality, for hands-free navigation. Copilot accesses browsing history, passwords, and user data only after obtaining explicit user consent. Visual notifications inform users when Copilot is actively functioning.

This mode provides users with the convenience of search, chat, and browsing capabilities on a single page, along with the ability to compare all open tabs. It includes features such as voice navigation, smart recommendations, and automation of tasks. Copilot Mode is currently offered free to Windows and Mac users, though this is a limited-time offer. Users have the option to disable the feature via the Edge browser settings.

Microsoft’s introduction of Copilot Mode arrives as numerous tech companies launch AI-powered browsers and search tools. Perplexity AI has released Comet Browser, with Nvidia’s support, while OpenAI is also preparing to launch its own AI browser. Google has likewise initiated its AI Mode.
