Former U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the Gaza peace plan did not require amendments, enjoying nearly universal backing. Before leaving the White House, Trump addressed the press, answering questions about the Gaza plan, suggesting final details would be ironed out shortly.

Trump noted the scarcity of alternative options, since the plan had widespread agreement. He conceded that some changes were inevitable, but the plan was outstanding. He emphasized that peace in the Middle East would be achieved, a historic milestone, and that he was honored to be involved. He mentioned that negotiations were underway, with an expected resolution in the coming days, bringing joy to the involved parties.

Trump emphasized the significance of the plan for Israel and the broader Arab and Muslim world. The White House reported on X that positive discussions had occurred during the weekend with Hamas and international partners, including Arab and Muslim nations, focusing on the release of hostages, the end of the war in Gaza, and the long-sought goal of peace in the Middle East.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed his anticipation for an announcement about the release of all hostages from Gaza in the days ahead. Indirect talks are scheduled in Egypt with Hamas to discuss the updated American plan for concluding the war. Netanyahu indicated that he had sent a delegation to Egypt to finalize technical details. The aim is to conclude the negotiations quickly. Netanyahu’s statement followed Hamas’s acceptance of some terms of the American plan. President Trump welcomed Hamas’s statement but advised that they must act promptly to avoid jeopardizing the opportunity.
