Allegations of police bias and potential complicity have surfaced following acts of vandalism at DC Lounge establishments in Jamshedpur. A local legislator has formally challenged the authorities, particularly questioning the actions of the Bistupur Police Station Officer-in-Charge regarding his late-night visit to the Sakchi DC Lounge. The visit is reportedly linked to an earlier incident where individuals from Ramdas Bhatta, Bistupur, allegedly attacked patrons with weapons resembling injection syringes. The MLA is seeking accountability for the Bistupur SHO’s alleged jurisdictional overreach, intimidation of locals in Sakchi, and the role of another officer, Gopal Pandey, who is accused of aiding a suspect’s escape. The legislator suspects the police presence was intended to benefit the perpetrators and compromise evidence. The vandalism at the Bistupur DC Lounge is presented not as an isolated event but as a direct repercussion of the Sakchi incident, raising serious doubts about the impartiality of any investigation conducted by the Bistupur Police. A key point of contention is the Bistupur SHO’s alleged failure to follow protocol regarding motorcycles abandoned by the attackers at the Sakchi scene. Instead of seizure and investigation, the SHO allegedly returned the vehicles to the individuals involved in the assault, an act deemed criminal by the MLA. While police have announced an arrest and the recovery of an alleged weapon, the MLA claims to possess video evidence that contradicts this narrative, showing a meticulously planned assault by a large group of youths, many bearing ‘RD Bhatta’ insignia. The involvement of a tutor is also reportedly captured in the footage. The MLA suggests that the police leadership may have been provided with incomplete or inaccurate information, leading to a potentially misleading public statement. He has formally requested the SSP to initiate a comprehensive investigation into these allegations, obtain explanations from the involved police officers, and scrutinize their conduct. The MLA has cautioned that a superficial resolution to this case could exacerbate law and order issues in the Ramdas Bhatta area.
