    Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the governors of 16 Japanese prefectures in Tokyo to explore avenues for collaboration between Indian states and Japanese prefectures, aiming to boost the India-Japan relationship. This meeting was a key element of the State-Prefecture Partnership initiative, which was launched during the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit. The discussions focused on bolstering cooperation in areas such as technology, innovation, investment, skill development, artificial intelligence, and support for startups and medium-sized enterprises.

    Modi highlighted how Indian states and Japanese prefectures can leverage each other’s strengths to foster shared development and prosperity. The Ministry of External Affairs took to X to share the news of the meeting, emphasizing the strong ties between the two nations. The Prime Minister urged concrete actions under the State-Prefecture Partnership initiative, considering it as a significant step towards shared progress. The partnership is aimed at strengthening cooperation in trade, technology, tourism, skill development, security, and cultural exchange.
