All eyes in Punjab are on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Jalandhar for the 649th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas. Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa voiced the collective anticipation, declaring that the state is eagerly preparing to host the leader.
Sirsa told reporters about PM Modi’s profound affinity for Guru Ravidas and Punjab’s residents. ‘Everything is ready; Punjab awaits this moment,’ he affirmed. The visit kicks off with the PM’s arrival at Adampur Airport, heightening the festive atmosphere.
In a notable development, CM Bhagwant Mann advocated renaming the airport after the saint on X, expressing eternal gratitude from Punjabis. Guru Ravidas, known for his egalitarian ideals, remains a unifying figure in the state’s diverse fabric.
PM Modi will visit the esteemed Dera Sachkhand Ballan to meet Sant Niranjan Das, a Padma Shri awardee heading this major Doaba dera in Ballan village, 13 km from Jalandhar. The site is a spiritual hub attracting global pilgrims.
Complementing the religious focus, the PM will inaugurate Halwara International Airport virtually on February 1 from Ludhiana’s Etiana. Boasting global standards with specific ICAO and IATA codes, it’s designed for key commercial jets and starts with flights to Delhi by leading carriers.
Dignitaries including Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and legislators will join the ceremony. This airport heralds economic revival, spurring jobs, investments, and decongesting current facilities while serving Ludhiana’s industrial powerhouse.
Punjab’s landscape is evolving with these strides, blending devotion to heritage with cutting-edge infrastructure. The visit reinforces national commitment to the region’s growth, promising shared prosperity and cultural reverence.
