The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported on the progression of the southwest monsoon, indicating its arrival in several North Indian states within the next two days. Delhi, along with Chandigarh and parts of Haryana, is expected to experience the monsoon’s impact. The forecast also includes Western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir, with an estimated arrival date of June 24th.

The monsoon has already made its way into most of Himachal Pradesh, all of Ladakh and Kashmir, most of Jammu, and parts of Punjab. Delhi is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall, offering some relief from the current conditions. The maximum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 36.2 degrees Celsius, 1.3 degrees below the average. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, anticipating the arrival of rain.

For Monday, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, forecasting light to moderate showers and thunderstorms, along with strong winds of 30-40 km/h. Furthermore, the IMD predicts the southwest monsoon to move into parts of Rajasthan and Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and sections of Delhi, along with western Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and the remaining areas of Jammu within the next two days. The monsoon is expected to arrive in these regions in the near future.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated in several regions, including sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, western Uttar Pradesh, and eastern Rajasthan. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Assam and Meghalaya, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Additionally, Uttarakhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, western Rajasthan, and western Madhya Pradesh are expected to see heavy rainfall. Heavy rainfall has been observed in isolated locations in Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam.
