Monsoon Brings Disasters: IMD Issues Alerts and Warnings

The monsoon season has brought heavy rains and significant challenges across various regions. At least 43 deaths have been reported in Himachal Pradesh due to rain-related incidents. Cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides are causing widespread disruption and damage. Responding to the situation, the IMD has issued an orange alert for several states, including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. Waterlogging and traffic disruptions were reported on Friday as the monsoon intensified. Delhi is under a yellow alert, with rain expected over the next two days. In addition, the IMD has issued warnings for torrential rains in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh from July 5th to 10th; Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, and Odisha from July 5th to 7th; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim from July 7th to 9th; and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on July 6th. The Met Department indicates that the southwest monsoon will continue to be active over the western Himalayan region and the plains during the next 7 days. Affected regions include Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, and West Uttar Pradesh. People are urged to be cautious, stay informed about the latest IMD weather bulletins, seek safe shelter, avoid unnecessary travel, and keep away from electricity.
