The monsoon season has spread across India, causing heavy rainfall in several areas. In Delhi, the monsoon’s impact is visible through sporadic showers, a slight temperature decrease, and increased humidity. The weather forecast anticipates partly cloudy skies, potential thunderstorms, and light rainfall in the upcoming days, with temperatures hovering between 37 and 27 degrees Celsius.
Eastern and central India are preparing for intense rainfall. The Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rain in Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh through July 8th. Heavy rainfall is expected in Sikkim, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar until July 6th. Furthermore, the northeastern states of Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram may face severe rainfall this week.
Northwest India is also under a rain alert. Heavy rainfall is expected in various parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand until July 8th. Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir are likely to experience very heavy rainfall.
Himachal Pradesh has already suffered significant damage due to the monsoon’s intensity. Uttarakhand is dealing with rising river levels and potential flooding. Western India, specifically the Ghat regions of Maharashtra, is likely to experience very heavy rainfall, with heavy to very heavy rain predicted in central Maharashtra, Gujarat, Konkan, and Goa over the next week.
