Monsoon Update: Heavy Rains Lash South India While Delhi Remains Dry

The monsoon season is bringing heavy rainfall to Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, as per the IMD. However, Delhi continues to experience dry conditions, with only occasional light rain offering minimal relief. High humidity and stagnant weather patterns are adding to the discomfort in the capital. Coastal Karnataka, Yanam, Telangana, and Lakshadweep are also under a weather advisory, with thunderstorms and lightning expected. Severe waterlogging and flooding are reported in several parts of the country, prompting authorities to issue alerts in multiple regions, including Madhya Pradesh (July 21–23), Odisha and Chhattisgarh (July 22–24), Bihar (July 20–22), and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim (until July 21). The weather department warns of worsening conditions in the coming days. Citizens should prepare for potential travel delays and disruptions. Heavy rainfall is forecast in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura until July 22. In addition, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Rajasthan (July 19, 2025), Uttarakhand (July 20 and 21), West Uttar Pradesh (until July 22), East Uttar Pradesh (July 21), Jammu & Kashmir (July 20 to 23), and Punjab and Haryana (July 20 to 22).
