Naiduniya, Jabalpur (MP High Court). The Jabalpur Bench of MP High Court has ordered the doctors to end the strike and return to work. The court said that if a patient dies due to the strike, the medical profession will be tarnished. The doctors’ complaints will be heard on August 20. It was also decided to keep OPDs closed in hospitals in Bhopal and Jabalpur.
Only emergency services are running in private hospitals. Due to the strike, the condition of health services in most government hospitals has started deteriorating. Patients are lining up for treatment. Pathology tests could not be done. Relatives are also worried.
Why have doctors gone on strike in Bhopal without the permission of the court?
On Friday, the court had asked why the doctors in Bhopal have gone on strike without the court’s permission despite the clear orders given earlier? The bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice Vinay Saraf had issued notices to the Principal Secretary of the Health Department, Dean Gandhi Medical College and Junior Doctors Association, GMC Bhopal and sought a reply in this regard.

During the hearing on Saturday, the parties’ replies came. After considering them, the court repeated its old harsh comment like, if the life is going to be lost, we will give medicine after two days.
Anshul Tiwari of Narsinghpur challenged it in the High Court
Public interest petitioner Anshul Tiwari, a resident of Narsinghpur, has challenged the doctors’ strike in the High Court. Senior advocates Sanjay Agarwal and Abhishek Pandey argued on behalf of the petitioner. He argued that public interest litigations were filed on the same subject in the year 2023 as well.
Doctors cannot go on strike without the permission of the court
The High Court had given clear instructions in those cases that doctors cannot go on strike without the court’s permission. The court had also said that court’s permission is necessary even for going on a token strike. Despite this, doctors across the state are going on strike, due to which the medical system is getting badly affected.
Junior doctors had stopped work from 12 midnight on Thursday
Doctors are protesting all over the country against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata on August 8. After AIIMS in Bhopal, junior doctors of Hamidia Hospital had stopped working from 12 midnight on Thursday. In Indore too, junior doctors are only looking after emergency cases.
