State Bureau, Naiduniya, Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh Police). Madhya Pradesh Police will now note down and write comments on the special nature of the people associated with the criminal in his history sheet. Along with this, their phone numbers or mobile numbers and information about their relatives will be taken and kept on record.

Aadhaar number, EPIC number, e-mail ID, internet media account profiles like Facebook, Instagram ID, X ID of such persons will also be kept on record. The history sheet will be reviewed from time to time by an officer of the level of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Additional Commissioner of Police or an officer senior to him.

Now in Madhya Pradesh, history sheets of criminals will not be made on the basis of caste

Now in Madhya Pradesh, history sheets of criminals will not be made on the basis of caste. Police headquarters has issued a circular in this regard to the Superintendents of Police of all the districts.

In fact, the Supreme Court has recently passed an order in a criminal appeal Amanatullah vs Commissioner of Police Delhi and others, regarding the precautions to be taken in preparing the history sheet of criminals. This circular has been issued in compliance with this order.

The circular states that while preparing the history sheet of criminals, it should be kept in mind that the names of people belonging to any backward communities and scheduled tribes as well as economically and educationally backward classes should not be included only because they belong to that caste, tribe or society.

They should not be included in the history sheet, as often such notions are associated with the society which makes them victims due to the prevailing stereotypes. This can hamper their right to live life with self-respect. In case of non-compliance of these instructions, action will be taken against the guilty police officer / employee.

Details of minor relatives will also not be recorded

While preparing the history sheet, no details of the minor relative of the criminal or his son, daughter, brother, sister will be recorded unless there is evidence that the minor concerned has given shelter or could have given shelter to the criminal when he was absconding from the police. The circular will prohibit making public the identity of a child in conflict with the law or a child in need of care.
