Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has provided clarity on the much-discussed IPL future of their iconic captain, MS Dhoni. Amidst swirling rumors of retirement before the IPL 2026 season, Viswanathan has confirmed that Dhoni is not expected to retire for the upcoming IPL.

At 44, Dhoni remains the oldest player in the IPL, and his future is a topic of keen interest, particularly with the IPL 2026 mega auction on the horizon. Fans have been eager for an update, and the CSK CEO’s comments offer a significant reassurance.

During a recent informal conversation with some young fans, Viswanathan was asked directly about Dhoni’s retirement. He responded with a clear “No he is not retiring for this IPL.” When further questioned about when Dhoni might retire, the CEO playfully stated, “I will ask him and get back to you.”

The partnership between MS Dhoni and CSK is one of the most successful in IPL history. Affectionately known as ‘Thala,’ Dhoni has led the franchise to five championship victories and is intrinsically linked with its identity. Since retiring from international cricket, his role has evolved, often coming in for explosive lower-order hitting, showcasing his enduring match-finishing abilities.
