In a case that’s sending ripples through Madhya Pradesh, the bodies of a young mother and her baby boy were recovered from a well in Damoh’s Tendukheda area. The Saturday morning revelation by civic cleaners in Ward No. 1 has authorities racing against time to unravel the circumstances—accident, suicide, or murder?

Details emerged swiftly: the 35-year-old victim, Jayanti wife of Durga Kevat from nearby Jharoli, had been at her brother’s 13th-day observance. She disappeared post-midnight, around 2 a.m., prompting a sleepless night of searches by kin. By 6 a.m., municipal workers alerted police after spotting the pair in the well. SDOP Archana Ahir and SHO Ravendra Bagri oversaw the extraction and scene documentation before postmortem.

The infant, just three months old and named Devansh, adds to the family’s sorrow. Jayanti’s five-year health struggles and the deaths of two prior children paint a picture of compounded grief. Her husband’s modest labor job underscores their modest life.

Police statements emphasize a multi-faceted investigation, canvassing witnesses and awaiting medical reports. This incident reignites debates on safety nets for vulnerable families in rural India. As Tendukheda mourns, the quest for truth continues, with hopes that answers will prevent future heartbreaks.
