Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to embark on a comprehensive five-nation foreign visit from July 2 to July 9, marking his most extensive diplomatic engagement in a decade. The tour will strategically concentrate on South America, the Caribbean Islands, and several African nations. The Ministry of External Affairs has provided details of the itinerary, with the tour beginning in Ghana and ending in Namibia, including stops in Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, and Brazil.
The visit to Ghana represents the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 30 years, involving support for a vaccine production center and an address to the Parliament. In Trinidad and Tobago, at the invitation of Prime Minister Kamala Prasad-Bissessar, the visit will be the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 25 years. The agenda includes addressing the joint session of Parliament. In Argentina, the Prime Minister will meet with President Javier Miley for bilateral talks, focusing on strengthening collaboration in various sectors. A significant part of the tour involves the 17th BRICS summit in Brazil. The final leg of the visit will be in Namibia, where the Prime Minister will meet President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, address Parliament, and promote the implementation of India’s UPI digital payment system.
