Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi to discuss the ongoing efforts to combat Naxalism and foster development in the Bastar region. The Chief Minister provided an update on the progress of anti-Maoist operations and development initiatives.

He mentioned that the state government’s new strategies, supported by the central government, have brought the Naxal eradication campaign to a critical stage. Significant successes have been achieved in the last one and a half years. The Chief Minister noted that 1,428 Maoists had surrendered, a notable increase compared to the previous five years. He also reported that 427 Maoists were killed in 205 encounters, including prominent leaders such as General Secretary Basava Raju and Central Committee member Sudhakar.

The meeting also highlighted the establishment of 64 new forward security camps to strengthen the security network. These camps are facilitating the provision of essential services such as electricity, clean water, healthcare, and schools to the villages nearby. Under the ‘Niyad Nellanar Yojana,’ 146 villages are receiving 18 types of community services and 25 government schemes, which is boosting local trust in the governance.
