Sushila Karki, the Interim Prime Minister of Nepal, took office on Sunday, having been sworn in on September 12th. After assuming her responsibilities, Karki announced an investigation into those involved in the acts of vandalism. She affirmed that her government’s objective was not to wield power, emphasizing their short-term mission to transfer authority to a new parliament within six months. Additionally, Karki declared that individuals who lost their lives during the anti-government protests would be recognized as martyrs.

Karki underscored the necessity of public support for her government’s success. She referenced the historic 27-hour protest in Nepal, driven by demands for economic equity and the eradication of corruption. She stressed the importance of collective effort in rebuilding Nepal, highlighting their commitment to fortifying the nation and aligning with the perspectives of the Gen Z demographic.
