The Indian Coast Guard strengthened its Western Seaboard operations with the appointment of Additional Director General MV Pathak, PTM, TM, who formally assumed command during a grand parade in Mumbai on Monday. This move signals heightened focus on protecting India’s expansive western maritime frontier amid rising regional tensions.

Pathak’s journey began in July 1989, evolving into a career marked by vessel commands and influential shore duties. Key positions include Chief of Staff, commands in Andaman & Nicobar, North East, Kerala & Mahe, Principal Director (Administration) in New Delhi, and Deputy DG (Operations & Coastal Security) at headquarters.

Transitioning from Deputy DG (CGSB) in New Delhi, Pathak’s honors – PTM and TM – reflect his dedication to excellence.

Post-ceremony, Pathak voiced his privilege in commanding the Western Seaboard, vowing to amplify coastal security and sea safety. He committed to collaborative efforts with state and central entities. Upholding ‘Vayam Rakshamah,’ the Coast Guard stands prepared for border patrols, smuggling interdiction, spill containment, SAR missions, and beyond.

Positioned as a cornerstone of national maritime strategy, this Mumbai command under Pathak’s stewardship promises enhanced vigilance, rapid response, and unyielding protection for India’s vital sea lanes.
