Promoting solar energy, electricity saving through technological innovation: Chief Minister gave instructions

Raipur, February 17, 2025 – Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Say today, in a detailed review meeting of the Energy Department at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhavan, gave instructions to take concrete steps to ensure continuous and uninterrupted power supply in the state, promote solar energy, and control electricity expenditure through new technologies. He said that by promoting solar energy in Chhattisgarh, using the latest technologies, and providing more facilities to consumers, we will make the state energy self-sufficient. Along with this, we will achieve the goal of providing electricity to every home by rapidly advancing rural and urban electrification works.

Electrification in Naxal-affected areas gets new momentum

Chief Minister Shri Say appreciated the extensive electrification done in Naxal-affected areas under the Niyod Nellanar Yojana. He said that connecting all Naxal-affected villages with electricity facilities is a priority of the state government. This will help in including the villagers in the mainstream of development and improving their standard of living. Chief Minister Shri Say instructed the officials to illuminate the remaining areas deprived of electricity facilities as soon as possible.

Relief to consumers in electricity bill payment, online payment will get a boost

Chief Minister Shri Say instructed to give special relief to consumers regarding the outstanding payment of electricity bills. He said that non-payment of electricity bills on time causes revenue loss to the government, while consumers also face inconvenience. Therefore, a special facility for one-time payment of outstanding bills should be provided, which will provide relief to consumers and also increase government revenue.

He also instructed that consumers be provided with information about their electricity bills through mobile messages and links, so that they can easily make online payments.

Technological innovation in the energy sector will be encouraged

Chief Minister Shri Say reviewed in detail the state and central government schemes related to rural and urban electrification. He said that the use of modern technologies in the energy sector will not only save electricity but will also provide more facilities to the consumers.

Chief Minister Shri Say instructed to develop a concrete strategy to improve the quality of power supply, reduce transmission and distribution losses (T&D Loss), and prevent technical and commercial losses. Chief Minister Shri Say emphasized the need to maximize the use of solar energy. He said that Chhattisgarh has immense potential for solar energy production, which should be effectively implemented with new schemes for adoption at the domestic, commercial, and industrial levels.

He instructed the officials to prioritize solar energy projects in the state and to connect more and more people with it to move towards energy self-reliance.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Singh, and senior officials of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited.
