Maruti Suzuki has launched the Victoris SUV, aiming to compete with the popular Hyundai Creta. The new model was recently introduced and is noteworthy as Maruti’s first vehicle equipped with Level-2 ADAS. The Victoris is designed for both the domestic and international markets, with India as the production base.
The Victoris offers similar powertrain options to the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, including a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Some variants provide the option of four-wheel drive with the petrol engine. A CNG variant is also available, utilizing the same engine but exclusively with a manual gearbox.
A key design feature is the integration of an underbody CNG tank, ensuring that the CNG variant maintains the same boot space as the petrol versions. The strong hybrid engine is borrowed from the Grand Vitara and uses locally assembled lithium-ion batteries. The petrol engine delivers 101 bhp and 137 Nm of torque, while the CNG version produces 87 bhp and 121 Nm of torque. The strong hybrid powertrain provides 91 bhp and 122 Nm of torque.
The exterior design of the Victoris is sporty, featuring a vertical hood, angular LED headlamps, and a chrome strip on the front. It comes with dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheels and a choice of 10 colors, including Eternal Blue and Mystic Green. The rear design includes full-width LED taillamps and a gesture-controlled powered tailgate. The taillight design resembles the Maruti Swift, but with a more pronounced 3D effect.
The interior of the Victoris features two trim levels. The dashboard has a layered design with 64-color ambient lighting. The car includes a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a touchscreen infotainment system with pre-loaded apps such as Alexa. The system supports over-the-air updates and Suzuki Connect, offering over 60 features. Additional features include a dual-pane sunroof, a PM 2.5 air filter, an 8-speaker surround Infinity sound system with Dolby Atmos, and an 8-way powered and ventilated driver’s seat.
In terms of safety, the Victoris has received 5-star ratings from both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP. Standard safety features include 6 airbags, electronic stability control, and seat belt reminders. Advanced safety technologies include a heads-up display, a 360-degree camera, and Level-2 ADAS, all tuned for Indian roads.
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris has a starting price of ₹10.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The strong hybrid version starts at ₹16.38 lakh, and the CNG range begins at ₹11.50 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. Petrol variants range from the LXi to the VXi, ZXi, ZXi(O), ZXi Plus, and ZXi Plus (O). CNG variants are available in LXi, VXi, and ZXi trims. Strong hybrid variants range from VXi to ZXi Plus (O). Petrol variants range from ₹10.50 lakh to ₹17.77 lakh for the ZXi Plus (O) automatic. The four-wheel drive option is priced between ₹18.64 lakh and ₹19.22 lakh. CNG variants are priced from ₹11.50 lakh to ₹14.57 lakh, while the strong hybrid variants range from ₹16.38 lakh to ₹19.99 lakh.
