India’s charismatic captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, has achieved a new pinnacle in women’s T20 international cricket, becoming the captain with the most wins. This notable record was secured on Friday during India’s dominant eight-wicket victory against Sri Lanka, where she overtook the previous record holder, Meg Lanning of Australia.

Kaur now boasts 77 wins from 130 T20I games as captain, a testament to her leadership and the team’s consistent performance. She humbly deflected praise, emphasizing the indispensable contribution of her teammates. “That is something I never thought would happen,” she shared. “I would like to give all credit to my team. They’ve been outstanding. It’s because of them that we keep winning.”

The Indian skipper sees this milestone as a launchpad for future successes, particularly the looming T20 World Cup. She expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress in adopting a more aggressive T20 approach and highlighted the exceptional contribution of the bowling department. “The way they bowled in this series, credit goes to all our bowling lineup,” Kaur remarked. India and Sri Lanka will face off again on Sunday for the fourth T20I.
