The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, will be in Gujarat to lay the foundation stone for the Tribhuvan Sahkari University (TSU), India’s first national-level cooperative university. The event is scheduled for July 5th in Anand. In addition to the foundation stone ceremony, Shah will take part in a tree planting initiative, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,’ and launch an educational module created by NCERT. The university is designed to equip the cooperative sector with skilled professionals through specialized training and research in areas like cooperative management and rural development. It will follow the National Education Policy 2020 to offer various academic programs and create a national network to standardize education. A significant focus will be on training personnel from cooperative societies. The university will also address the need for qualified teachers by offering PhD programs in cooperative studies. A dedicated research and development council will be established to promote innovation within the sector. Amit Shah’s visit also encompasses participation in the ‘Sahkar Samvad’ dialogue and a program at Amul Dairy to celebrate the Ministry of Cooperation’s four-year milestone, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the cooperative sector’s growth.
