Diesel price also increased for the 18th consecutive day. Due to this, diesel has become costlier than petrol in Delhi. However, there was no increase in the price of petrol today. For the last 17 days, the prices of these two fuels were continuously increasing. There was no increase in the price of petrol on Wednesday, while diesel rose 48 paise to Rs 79.88 per liter, while petrol is Rs 79.76.

Petrol-diesel prices have been steadily increasing in the domestic market for most of the last 18 days, despite softening crude oil prices. Currently, the price of Indian basket crude oil is hovering around $ 40 per barrel. Explain that the tax on petrol and diesel in Delhi was the lowest in the country till April, while it was the highest in Mumbai. However, ever since the Delhi government increased VAT on diesel from 16.75% to 30%, diesel prices in Delhi have been higher than Mumbai. (Agency, HC)
