State Bureau, Naiduniya, Bhopal. There are preparations to provide health facilities like Ayushman to more than 15 lakh government employees of the state. Like the Ayushman scheme, treatment will be provided by signing contracts with private hospitals in the state and outside the state. The government is doing the final round of deliberations on this scheme.

Employees’ organizations want cashless treatment

According to the employee organizations, they want the facility of cashless treatment. In such a situation, the government can implement this scheme soon by acting on the suggestions of the employee organizations. On the lines of Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Mukhyamantri Ayushman Swasthya Bima Yojana is being brought. In this scheme, contribution will be deducted from the salary of the employees and the remaining amount will be deposited by the government.

Free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh

Under the scheme, free medical and OPD facilities up to Rs 5 lakh for general treatment and up to Rs 10 lakh for treatment in serious cases will be provided to the officers and employees of the state along with the families of retired employees.

This amount will be deducted from the salary

Under this scheme, monthly contribution of Rs 250 to Rs 1000 will be taken from the salary and pension of the employees. The government will add the remaining amount. It is worth mentioning that the government had announced free treatment for the employees of the state in February 2020. Its order was also issued, but the scheme could not be started. The Uttarakhand government is currently running such a scheme.

Kamal Nath government had brought the proposal, but it was not implemented

In 2019, the Kamal Nath government had proposed a scheme to provide health insurance to employees and to provide cashless treatment facilities. In this, a part of the insurance amount was to be taken from the employees and cashless treatment of Rs 5 to 10 lakh was to be provided. But after 15 months, the government changed and the Shivraj government worked on this proposal afresh.

The then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had talked about giving the benefits of the scheme to various types of government employees including contractual employees and Anganwadi workers of the state, but till now facilities like Ayushman have not been made available to the employees.

These employees will get benefits

Regular, regulated, contractual, teacher cadre, retired employees, municipal soldiers, workload, employees working in the state’s autonomous institutions, Anganwadi workers, assistants, mini Anganwadi workers, Panchayat secretaries, village employment assistants, Asha and Usha workers, Asha supervisors and Kotwars will be able to avail the health facility. The number of these employees is more than 15 lakh.

There is a system in other states to provide cashless treatment facility to employees, but there is no such facility for employees in Madhya Pradesh. Our demand from the government is that there should be cashless medical facility in Madhya Pradesh as well. The government has announced it, but it has not been implemented yet. – Laxminarayan Sharma, Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Third Class Employees Union
