Indian government companies will get priority, such as tit rules in government procurement, shock to China
To give priority to Indian companies in government procurement under self-reliant India, the government has amended the purchase rule. Under this, now only those foreign companies will get an opportunity to participate in the government procurement tender, the countries where Indian companies get the opportunity to supply in government purchases.
With the implementation of this rule, countries like China, which do not allow Indian companies to participate in government department purchases, will not be able to participate in India’s government procurement tender.
This rule will be considered applicable to all government departments and ministries. According to the information released by DPIIT, the companies of the country which prevented Indian companies from participating in government procurement, will be able to take part in government purchases of only those items whose list will be published by the government.
Under the new amended rule, the departments and ministries that make purchases of more than 1000 crores annually will have to release the estimate of further five years of purchase on their website.
Under the new rule, government companies will also have to increase the local supply limit. According to the new rule, if a foreign company wants to participate in government procurement by partnering with an Indian company, then the government will issue a notification about that.
