Indore City Forest: City forest will be built on the land of Malwa Mill in Indore, proposal is being prepared

Naiduniya representative, Indore. The land of closed mills in Indore urban area is to be used for the benefit of the city. A plan is being prepared to develop a city forest in a part of the Malwa mill land. This proposal has been prepared under the plan to develop city forest.

The Public Asset Management Department is preparing to develop city forest in Indore and Jabalpur urban areas. For this, the department is working rapidly in a planned manner. A proposal to develop city forest has been put forward by the department in the action plan for the financial year 2024-25.

The Public Asset Management Department has again settled the land of closed mills of Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal and Burhanpur districts in favour of the state government from the National Textile Corporation. Against this, the National Textile Corporation has filed a petition in the High Court regarding the land of Indore, Ujjain and Bhopal. The department is taking action to resolve these land cases as soon as possible by establishing coordination with the collectors of the concerned districts.

Kalyan mill will also be managed

A major part of the United Malwa Mill located in Indore district has been found to be extremely suitable for development as a city forest by the management. Action is being taken on this development proposal by preparing a departmental plan and the Kalyan Mill is being managed properly.

There are plans being made here too

A departmental plan is being prepared to promote business activities on the remaining parcels of Ujjain’s Vinod Mill. The proper management of Ujjain’s diamond mill is also being done departmentally. The land acquired by BSNL in Jabalpur urban area has been settled again in favour of the state government by the Public Assets Department. Now proper management and arrangements are being made here in view of the development required for ‘City Forest’.

Development proposals for 16 districts are ready

Under the ‘Public Asset Management District Incentive Scheme’, a total of Rs 126 crore 79 lakh was distributed to 20 districts in the last financial year 2022-23 and 2023-24 as per the proposals received from them, to further strengthen the existing infrastructure in the districts and develop them as per the new requirements. In the current financial year 2024-25, the department is also taking action as per rules to obtain development proposals worth Rs 65 crore 49 lakh from 16 districts as per eligibility under this scheme.
