Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra in Puri with sister Subhadra and brother Balarama

The identity of historical and religious tradition did not stop in Puri’s rath yatra even during the Corona crisis. The rath yatra was taken out today after getting permission from the Supreme Court.

Lord Jagannath’s rath yatra came out today amidst Corona crisis. The rath yatra took place amidst all the guidelines including social distancing of the Supreme Court. In Puri, the Rath Yatra was taken out without the presence of devotees, then the Rath Yatra was carried out in the temple premises in Ahmedabad.

Let us tell you that Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra is not coming out in Ahmedabad after the order of Gujarat High Court. Following the social distancing, devotees are allowed to visit the temple premises. After Mangala Aarti in the morning, CM Vijay Rupani of Gujarat saw Lord Jagannath and according to tradition, cleaned it with a golden broom.

Lord Jagannath goes to aunt’s house

Lord Jagannath goes to his aunt’s house with sister Subhadra and brother Balarama. Gundicha temple is considered to be the home of Lord Jagannath’s aunt. Here God rest for 7 days. After this, the return journey begins. Apart from Puri, such trips are also organized at many places in Odisha.

PM Narendra Modi wishes

Before the start of the rath yatra, President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah gave their best wishes.

President Ramnath Kovind said, ‘Congratulations to all the countrymen, especially the devotees of Lord Jagannath in Odisha on the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra. I wish that the grace of Lord Jagannath, grant us courage and determination to face Kovid-19 and infuse health and happiness into our lives.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ‘My hearty congratulations to all of you on the auspicious occasion of Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra. I wish that this journey filled with reverence and devotion brought happiness, prosperity, good luck and health to the lives of the countrymen. Jai Jagannath.

Supreme Court gave conditional green signal yesterday

Here the Supreme Court gave the green signal and there was a complete echo with the announcement of Jai Jagannath. The sevadars pulled all three chariots to the main temple and the preparations for the rath yatra started on a war footing. The Supreme Court, in the hearing held just a day before the yatra, lifted the ban on Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra due to Corona infection, but with strict conditions.

urfew imposed in Puri, strict ban

Even today, the Rath Yatra will take place in Puri like every year, but the view will be very different. Neither will there be a crowd, the movement of devotees in Puri from elsewhere. Under the Supreme Court order, curfew has been imposed in Puri from 9 pm on Monday night, which will continue till 2 pm on Wednesday, during which no one is allowed to leave the house.

Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad

Rath yatra also takes place in Ahmedabad. Today, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani pulled a chariot with a broom of gold. However, the Rath Yatra will not come out of the temple premises. Mangla aarti and darshan began at 4 am among a few devotees.

By keeping Lord Jagannath in a chariot, devotees will be able to see all day in the temple premises. Only 10 people will be allowed to come together in the temple premises. After social distancing and thermal checking, devotees will be allowed to come to the temple.
