Naiduniya Representative, Seoni: Due to weak rock area in the geology, earthquakes are being recorded in the rainy season in and around Seoni city. On September 1 and 2, earthquakes of 2.5 and 2.2 magnitude on Richter scale were recorded twice in the National Seismology Center within 33 hours. However, no damage has been reported so far due to the tremors of both the earthquakes.

Earthquake on Monday afternoon

The earthquake spread panic among the people for a few moments. The earthquake shook the city dwellers even at 2.52 pm on Monday. A day before, on September 1, at 6.09 am, an earthquake of 2.2 magnitude was also recorded in Seoni. As the epicentre of the earthquake was Aamjhiriya village, people did not know about it.

The epicentre of both the earthquakes was at a depth of five and seven kilometres from the surface of the earth. While the epicentre of the earthquake that struck on Monday was near the Bamhori Bridge on the Chhindwara Road Highway.
