The doors of the Nagchandreshwar temple open once a year. It was opened for visitors on the occasion of Nagpanchami. Mahant Vineet Giri Maharaj performed the first puja.
Naiduniya representative Ujjain. Ujjain Nagchandreshwar Temple: The festivities of Nag Panchami have begun in Jyotirlinga Mahakal Temple. The doors of the Lord Nagchandreshwar temple located on the peak of the temple were opened at 12 o’clock on Thursday night. After this, Mahant Vineet Giri Maharaj of Mahanirvani Akhara performed the first worship of Lord Nagchandreshwar.
After the worship, the process of general darshan started, which will continue uninterrupted till 12 midnight on Friday. To follow the tradition of closing the doors, the administration will stop the devotees from queuing up for darshan at 10 pm on Friday night. Then after a year, i.e. on the next Nag Panchami, the doors of the temple will open.
Enthusiasm for devotees to have darshan
There was tremendous enthusiasm among the devotees to have darshan of Lord Nagchandreshwar on Thursday night. Devotees from all over the country had stood in the queue for darshan since 10 pm. As soon as the darshan started after the worship, the devotees started moving towards the temple chanting slogans.
Tradition of Trikal Puja
There is a tradition of performing Trikal Puja in Nagchandreshwar temple on Nagpanchami. After the first puja performed by opening the doors, the government officials will worship Lord Nagchandreshwar at 12 noon on Friday. After the evening aarti of Lord Mahakal at 7:30 pm, the priest of Mahakal temple will worship Lord Nagchandreshwar on behalf of Mahakaleshwar temple committee. The doors of the temple will be closed once again for the whole year at 12 midnight on Friday.
