Security forces in Jharkhand have achieved a significant victory in the fight against Naxalism and extremism. In Latehar district, nine extremists belonging to the banned Jharkhand Janmukti Parishad (JJMP) surrendered, bringing with them a cache of 12 high-tech weapons. The surrender, influenced by the state’s surrender and rehabilitation policy, is a major boost to the efforts to make Jharkhand extremism-free. The surrendered weapons included AK-47s, SLR rifles, and other sophisticated firearms. Additionally, a large number of bullets and magazines were recovered. Five of the surrendered extremists had a combined reward of 23 lakh rupees. Among those who surrendered was Zonal Commander Ravindra Yadav, who had a reward of 5 lakh rupees on his head. The surrender involved 04 AK-47s, 01 AK -56, 03 SLRs, 02 .303 rifles, and 01 semi-rifle, along with 1782 rounds of ammunition and 26 magazines. The surrender of the nine JJMP extremists, along with their advanced weaponry, represents a significant success for security forces in the region, marking a major step toward the goal of eradicating Naxalism in Jharkhand by the end of 2025.
