Cabinet Minister Sanjay Nishad’s persistent campaign for elevating the Majhwar community to Scheduled Caste status has reached a boiling point. In Lucknow on January 30, he reiterated that the BJP’s agenda includes correcting the ‘wrongful’ OBC placement of Nishads, who were constitutionally SC from the outset.
Drawing on official records, Nishad cited the RGI’s affirmation of Majhwar’s SC listing and a recent state gazette. ‘Yogi ji championed this as MP, and ministers agree. Time for action via presidential and gubernatorial channels,’ he pressed.
He called for immediate government orders to streamline SC certificate issuance under 1967 guidelines, without extraneous demands. Blasting manipulators behind the category shift, Nishad threatened widespread demonstrations. ‘We’ll protest like student unions if ignored.’
Boasting a bloc of 11 MLAs, he instructed them to prioritize this or risk voter backlash. This political maneuvering underscores deepening caste dynamics in UP.
Turning to national economics, Nishad hailed the 2026 budget as a Modi masterstroke. ‘Rescuing a sinking economy and propelling India ahead globally— that’s true leadership in turbulent times.’
