The West Delhi Lions won the Delhi Premier League 2025, defeating the Central Delhi Kings by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on August 31st.
Central Delhi Kings, after being asked to bat, scored 173/7 in 20 overs. Yugal Saini was the top scorer with 65 runs, while Pranshu Vijayran added a quickfire 50* to the total.
West Delhi’s bowlers, Manan Bhardwaj and Shivank Vashisht, each took two wickets.
West Delhi Lions had a shaky start to their chase, losing early wickets. However, Nitish Rana’s brilliant innings of 79 off 49 balls turned the game around. They reached the target of 174/4 in just 18 overs.
Hrithik Shokeen provided valuable support, scoring 42* to help secure the victory.
West Delhi Lions won the toss and elected to field, a decision that proved to be a winning strategy.
The victory was especially sweet for West Delhi, after missing out on the playoffs the previous year. They ultimately won the title in a nail-biting contest.
