The BCCI has responded to the controversy surrounding the lack of a post-match handshake between the Indian and Pakistani cricket teams at the Asia Cup. The incident has raised questions, with reports suggesting potential disciplinary measures against the Indian side. Following the match, Indian players Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube went straight to the changing room, leaving the Pakistani team, including captain Salman Ali Agha, waiting for a handshake. The lack of the gesture also occurred during the coin toss. The ACC is reportedly analyzing the situation, considering a disciplinary review of the Indian team’s conduct. A senior BCCI official commented, explaining that handshakes are not a requirement. They stated that there is no rule mandating handshakes and it is more a matter of convention. The official suggested that the Indian team is not necessarily bound to shake hands, especially given the existing tensions between the two teams.
