    The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the severe flooding and heavy rains impacting North India. Notices have been issued to the central government and four states, specifically Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, along with regions of Delhi and Haryana. The states have been given a three-week timeframe to reply. The court also noted media reports of a large number of wooden blocks floating in the rivers. The Solicitor General acknowledged the detrimental effects of human actions on the environment, highlighting that nature is now reacting.
