Ranchi. Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s party LJP (R) now wants to increase its political status in Jharkhand as well. The party has called a meeting of the National Executive in Ranchi on Sunday, 25 August. In this meeting to be held in a big hotel in the city, important decisions are likely to be taken on the strategy for the possible assembly elections in Jharkhand in November-December as well as the elections of Haryana and Bihar next year. This meeting is also considered important in the sense that the election of the national president of the party is to be held in it. It is certain that once again Chirag Paswan will be unanimously elected for this post. Many officials and members of the National Executive are reaching Ranchi on Saturday itself to attend the meeting. Before this meeting, the Jharkhand unit of LJP (R) has identified 28 assembly seats in the state and has sent a proposal to contest elections on these to the central leadership of the party. This proposal will be discussed in the meeting and after this it will be decided how many and which seats should be claimed under the NDA Folder.

Party’s state president Virendra Pradhan says that we are ready to enter the Jharkhand assembly elections with strength. We will move forward under the decisions and instructions of the national leadership. However, in the political history of Jharkhand, LJP has never won any election till date. The party has never had a well-organized or strong organizational structure here. In such a situation, it is difficult to say how strongly Chirag Paswan and his party will be able to claim seats from the NDA leadership. In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, only two parties BJP and AJSU were in the fray in Jharkhand under the NDA folder. Now in the assembly elections, there has been no response from the NDA’s largest constituent party BJP on the claim of seats by Nitish Kumar’s party JDU and then Chirag Paswan’s party LJP (R).
