The Odisha government has approved a rise in the cessation benefit for its employees appointed on an ad hoc basis, with the announcement coming before the Rath Yatra. Previously, these employees were entitled to Rs 1.5 lakh upon cessation of service. This has been increased to Rs 2.5 lakh, as approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The enhanced benefit is for ad hoc employees upon service termination and for those regularized but with less than five years of service. Employees serving in regular positions for over five years will receive a minimum gratuity of Rs 2.5 lakh upon retirement. Additionally, the one-time gratuity amount will increase by 10% every two years, with departments having the authority to implement the increase without further approvals.
