    Raipur 13 November 2024/On the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved Rs 230 crore for solid waste management in the urban bodies of Chhattisgarh. With this amount sanctioned under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), the infrastructure and technical arrangements for solid waste management in all urban bodies will be strengthened. This will make waste management in the state more robust and sustainable.

    Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, while thanking the Government of India for this cooperation of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, said that this amount will give a new dimension to the work of Swachh Bharat Mission in the cities. This will be helpful in making every urban body of the state clean and healthy. He said that with this amount sanctioned by the Government of India, the waste management infrastructure in the Municipal Corporations, Municipalities and Nagar Panchayats of the state will be improved and made permanent. This will mobilize necessary technical, physical and human resources to improve the solid waste management system in the state, which will not only improve the sanitation situation but will also provide better environmental facilities to the citizens.

    It is noteworthy that Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Arun Sao, during his stay in New Delhi recently, had met Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Shri Manohar Lal and requested to sanction funds for solid waste management works. He had requested cooperation from the Central Government to make the system of solid waste management in the cities of the state more accessible and effective. Based on the proposals of the Urban Administration Department of the State Government, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved Rs 230 crore for Chhattisgarh for solid waste management.

    Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao said that this initiative will help in making Chhattisgarh clean and green. Emphasizing on making cleanliness a part of the daily life of every citizen, he said that active participation of all citizens is necessary for complete cleanliness.
