    Mukesh Vishwakarma, Bhopal. Due to lack of coordination between AYUSH and Health departments in the state, Ayurveda treatment is not possible in around 10,000 health centers. The Government of India had directed for treatment through Ayurveda method in sub-health centers in the state but even after a year, work has not been done on the ground level. Whereas under the National Health Mission, treatment through allopathy method is going on in sub-health centers. While treatment through Ayurveda has already started in other states of the country like Rajasthan, Tripura and Haryana, the governments of Punjab, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh have issued orders.

    1100 CHOs have been appointed

    The department has appointed 1100 Community Health Officers (CHOs) to provide treatment through Ayurveda at sub-health centres. They have good experience of treatment through Ayurveda. Because they have also obtained a degree in BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine in Surgery). After appointment, they were given six months of allopathy training. So that these appointed community officers can provide better services in both the disciplines.

    CMHOs from Dindori, Seoni, Mandla, Chhindwara, Anuppur, Shahdol, Umaria, Sidhi, Singrauli have written letters to NRHM, but Ayurveda treatment has not been started. Deputy Director Health and Wellness Center NHM Manish Singh says that if the doctors of the AYUSH department want to treat in Ayurveda, then they can treat people by creating coordination at the health centers. Instructions for this have been given.

    Treatment in allopathy is expensive, hence the need

    Let us tell you that on 26 July 2023, LS Changsan, Additional Secretary and Mission Director, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, had written a letter to the states in this regard. There were many reasons behind the order issued by the Ministry of Health, Government of India to all the states.
