Following the passing of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, the BCCI is examining the potential impact on its sponsorship deal with Dream11. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the board’s commitment to the new laws but also highlighted the need to scrutinize the bill’s consequences, especially concerning ongoing sponsorships. The BCCI’s approach mirrors its past compliance with advertising bans on alcohol and tobacco. The board is prepared to discontinue any commercial activities if they are not compliant. Dream11, an online gaming platform, currently sponsors both the men’s and women’s Indian cricket teams. This sponsorship, which includes branding rights, is valued at INR 358 crore and runs from July 2023 to March 2026. The association started with the ICC World Test Championship series against the West Indies.
